一則本生故事，其古代本事僅見於別處的交叉引用，此處記述的緣起是阿羅毗城的比丘四處求人捐助建屋材料而惹人厭煩，大迦葉因被誤認作其中一員而查明緣由並稟告佛陀，佛陀藉此斥責這些比丘，稱古時沙門即便蒙國王許其任意所求，也從不為個人享用而乞求。

A Jātaka whose ancient story is only cross-referenced elsewhere, framed here by an account of monks in Āḷavī pestering people for building materials until Mahā-Kassapa, mistaken for one of them, learns the cause and reports it to the Buddha, who rebukes the monks by recalling that ascetics of old never begged for comforts even when a king offered them their choice.
