アヴァンティのパッジョータ王の妹を母に持つゆえにこの名を得たマドゥラーの王で、マハーカッチャーナを訪ね、マドゥラ経に記された通り仏の教えの信奉者となった。

The king of Madhurā, so named because his mother was the sister of King Pajjota of Avanti, who visited Mahā-Kaccāna and, per the discourse recorded as the Madhura Sutta, became a follower of the Buddha’s teaching.
