摩偷羅國王，因其母為阿槃提國巴殊陀王之妹而得名，曾拜訪大迦旃延（對話即《摩偷羅經》所記），此後皈依佛陀教法。

The king of Madhurā, so named because his mother was the sister of King Pajjota of Avanti, who visited Mahā-Kaccāna and, per the discourse recorded as the Madhura Sutta, became a follower of the Buddha’s teaching.
