A Jātaka about a king who, observing from his window how modestly and discreetly an unkempt, overweight woman attends to a private need, is so impressed by her decency that he makes her his chief queen and she bears him a son destined for universal kingship, told about the plain, heavyset wife of a Licchavi prince to explain why he loved her despite the monks’ surprise.
