一則本生故事，講商人們先帶去一隻烏鴉，因當地本無飛鳥而被視為稀罕之物用以尋找陸地，備受珍視，後來又帶去一隻華麗的孔雀，售價高出十倍，烏鴉因此徹底遭人冷落，獨自棲息於垃圾堆上，此事用以說明自佛陀出世以來，昔日的外道大師如何盡失往日光彩。

A Jātaka about merchants who bring first a crow, prized as a land-finding novelty in a country with no birds of its own, and later a magnificent peacock which fetches ten times the price and eclipses the crow entirely, leaving it neglected on a rubbish heap, told to illustrate how rival teachers lost all their former glory once the Buddha appeared in the world.
