パセーナディ王が囚人を鎖で縛ったと聞いた仏陀は、貪欲の束縛はいかなる鎖よりも強固であると説いた

色・受・想を自己と見なす者は縛られたままであるが、そう見なさない者は解き放たれる

Those who identify body, feeling, and perception as self remain fettered, while those who do not are freed.
