사갈라의 바라문 딸로, 성사되지 않은 결혼으로 마하 카사파의 아내가 되었다가 후에 그와 함께 재가 생활을 버리고 마침내 비구니로 출가하여 아라한과를 얻었다.

A brahmin’s daughter of Sāgala who became the wife of Mahā-Kassapa in an unconsummated marriage, later renounced household life with him, and eventually was ordained as a nun and attained Arahantship.
