ジェータヴァナで説かれ、過去を思わず未来を望まず、ただ念をもって現在の状態を観じるという理想を説くこの経は、後に仏陀自らの勧めによりマハーカッチャーナ長老とローマサカンギヤ長老がその詩句を詳しく解説した

A discourse taught at Jetavana on the ideal of not dwelling on the past or longing for the future but attending mindfully to present states, whose verses were later expounded in detail by Mahā-Kaccāna and by the elder Lomasakaṅgiya at the Buddha’s own recommendation.
