제따와나에서 설해진 이 경은 과거에 매이지 않고 미래를 갈망하지도 않으며 오직 현재의 상태를 알아차림으로 관찰하는 이상을 설하며, 그 게송은 후에 부처님 자신의 권유로 마하깟짜야나 장로와 로마사깡기야 장로가 상세히 해설하였다

A discourse taught at Jetavana on the ideal of not dwelling on the past or longing for the future but attending mindfully to present states, whose verses were later expounded in detail by Mahā-Kaccāna and by the elder Lomasakaṅgiya at the Buddha’s own recommendation.
