此经在 Jetavana 宣说，阐明不追忆过去、不企盼未来，只以正念观照当下诸法的理想境界，其偈颂后来经佛陀嘱咐，分别由摩诃迦旃延与 Lomasakaṅgiya 长老详加解说。

A discourse taught at Jetavana on the ideal of not dwelling on the past or longing for the future but attending mindfully to present states, whose verses were later expounded in detail by Mahā-Kaccāna and by the elder Lomasakaṅgiya at the Buddha’s own recommendation.
