此經在 Jetavana 宣說，闡明不追憶過去、不企盼未來，只以正念觀照當下諸法的理想境界，其偈頌後來經佛陀囑咐，分別由摩訶迦旃延與 Lomasakaṅgiya 長老詳加解說。

A discourse taught at Jetavana on the ideal of not dwelling on the past or longing for the future but attending mindfully to present states, whose verses were later expounded in detail by Mahā-Kaccāna and by the elder Lomasakaṅgiya at the Buddha’s own recommendation.
