ปริพาชกผู้สวมเสื้อผ้า ต่างจากนักพรตเปลือยกาย อาศัยอยู่ใกล้เมืองอนุปิยา เป็นสหายของสุนักขัตตะ ซึ่งพระพุทธเจ้าเคยเสด็จไปสนทนาด้วย บันทึกไว้ในปาฏิกสูตร ท่านได้ชื่อเช่นนี้เพราะสังกัดตระกูลภัคควะ

A wanderer who wore clothes, unlike naked ascetics, living near Anupiyā and a friend of Sunakkhatta, whom the Buddha once visited for a conversation recorded in the Pāṭika Sutta; he was so named because he belonged to the Bhaggava clan.
