은둔자로, Āḷāra Kālāma 문하에서 부처님과 함께 수학한 옛 동문이었으나, Mahānāma 앞에서 부처님이 그의 견해를 바로잡은 뒤 기분이 상해 Kapilavatthu를 떠났다.
