나무를 두고 다투는 두 고행자 무리가 바루 왕에게 판결을 청했으나, 왕이 뇌물을 받고 공정한 판결을 뒤집자 신들이 그의 왕국 전체를 바닷속에 가라앉혔다는 본생담으로, 제타 숲 인근 땅을 뇌물을 받고 이교도들에게 주려는 파세나디 왕을 만류하기 위해 설해졌다.
