චාලිකා (Cālikā) අසල කන්දකි; බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ එහි වැඩම කරන විට වැඩ සිටියේය. එහි සුදු පැහැය නිසා අඳුරු රාත්‍රියේදී එය චලනය වන්නාක් මෙන් පෙනීම නිසා එම නම ලැබුණි.
