The youngest of three brothers named Kāḷa, householders of Setabyā, who joined the Order with his brother Mahā-Kāḷa but was later persuaded by his former wives to return to lay life.

A previous birth of Aññā-Koṇḍañña, a householder of Haṃsavatī who repeatedly offered the Buddha Vipassī the first fruits of a single rice crop and thereby became the first to attain realisation under Gotama Buddha’s first discourse.

A lay disciple of the Buddha who was wrongly charged with theft after fleeing robbers threw their stolen goods in front of him, until witnesses secured his release.
