부처님이 숲속에서 함께 지내는 세 비구를 찾아가셨다가 명상을 방해할까 염려한 시자에게 처음에는 제지당하지만, 이후 그들의 수행 성취를 물으시고 화합하는 공동생활을 칭찬하시자, 훗날 한 신령이 이 화합이 하늘 세계에까지 널리 알려졌다고 확인해 주었다는 경이다.

A discourse in which the Buddha visits three monks dwelling together in a forest grove, is initially turned away by their attendant fearing to disturb their meditation, then questions them about their spiritual attainments and praises the harmony of their communal life, later confirmed by a spirit as renowned even among the gods.
