ชาดกเล่าเรื่องความฝันของพระราชินีเรื่องหงส์ทอง ที่นำให้กษัตริย์ดักจับพญาหงส์ธตรฐผู้เป็นพระโพธิสัตว์ ซึ่งอำมาตย์ผู้ภักดีสุมุขะปฏิเสธที่จะทอดทิ้งจนทั้งคู่ได้รับอิสรภาพ

A Jātaka telling how a queen’s dream of a golden goose led a king to trap the goose-king Dhataraṭṭha, the Bodhisatta, whose loyal minister Sumukha’s refusal to abandon him won both their freedom.

ชาดกที่พระโพธิสัตว์เกิดเป็นพญาหงส์ธตรฐ ถูกดักด้วยบ่วงของนายพราน และได้รับการปลดปล่อยด้วยความภักดีของอำมาตย์สุมุขะเท่านั้น ซึ่งพญาหงส์ตอบแทนความภักดีนี้ในภายหลังผ่านความเอื้อเฟื้อของกษัตริย์มนุษย์

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta, born as the goose-king Dhataraṭṭha, is caught in a fowler’s snare and freed only through the devotion of his minister Sumukha, whose loyalty the goose-king later rewards through a human king’s generosity.
