一部經，以「象足印」為喻說明妄下斷語的危險，佛陀為婆羅門 Jāṇussoni 開示完整修道次第與果證，作為真正辨識佛陀的標準，此經也是摩哂陀在斯里蘭卡所宣說的第一部經。

A discourse using the simile of an elephant’s footprint to illustrate the danger of premature conclusions, in which the Buddha teaches the brahmin Jāṇussoni the full path of practice and its fruits as the true marks by which a Buddha may be recognised, and which was the first sutta taught by Mahinda in Sri Lanka.
