白髪が現れた瞬間に出家すると心に決めていたバーラーナシー（Bārāṇasī）王スタソーマ（Sutasoma）が、家族や富裕な民の懇願にもかかわらずそれを実行し、都全体が彼に従ったというジャータカ。
