พระสูตรที่พระพุทธเจ้าตรัสอธิบายแก่ท้าวสักกะโดยย่อว่าภิกษุหลุดพ้นได้อย่างไรด้วยการทำลายตัณหา หลังจากนั้นพระมหาโมคคัลลานะสงสัยว่าท้าวสักกะเข้าใจคำสอนนี้จริงหรือไม่ จึงไปเยี่ยม แต่ในตอนแรกกลับได้รับการต้อนรับด้วยการแสดงอิทธิฤทธิ์เพื่อหลบเลี่ยงคำถาม จนกระทั่งพระมหาโมคคัลลานะเขย่าวิมานของท้าวสักกะให้สั่นสะเทือนจึงได้รับคำตอบที่ถูกต้องครบถ้วนทุกถ้อยคำ

A discourse in which the Buddha briefly explains to Sakka how a monk is liberated through the destruction of craving, after which Mahā-Moggallāna, doubting whether Sakka truly grasped the teaching, visits him, is met at first with an evasive display of divine power, and only receives the correct answer, word for word, after shaking Sakka’s palace to unsettle him.
