瞑想に一心不乱に打ち込む中で未治療の眼病により視力を失いながらも阿羅漢果を得た、サーヴァッティーの地主の息子である阿羅漢で、後に案内役の甥に途中で見捨てられたが帝釈天によって無事に家まで導かれた。

An Arahant, son of a Sāvatthi landowner, who lost his sight to untreated ophthalmia while single-mindedly pursuing meditation, attained Arahantship despite his blindness, and was later led safely home by Sakka after his escorting nephew abandoned him.
