ရှေးဟောင်းဘုရင်များသည် ကတ္တိကပွဲတော်တွင် တင့်တယ်စွာ ဝတ်စားဆင်ယင်ကာ ရေကန်ကမ်းနားတွင် ရပ်လျက် လေးမြှားများကို အရပ်လေးမျက်နှာသို့ ပစ်ခတ်ခဲ့ကြသော၊ ယင်း၏ ရုပ်တု ဟုယူဆရသည့်အရာရှေ့တွင် ယခုကဲ့သို့ပြုမူခဲ့သော ယက္ခတစ်ပါး

A yakkha before whose presumed statue ancient kings, arrayed in splendour at the Kattika Festival, would stand by the lakeshore and shoot arrows to the four quarters.

အဘယရေကန်အောက်ရှိ ကျေးရွာဖြင့်လည်းကောင်း၊ ပွဲတော်နေ့များတွင် အနီးအနား ထိုင်ခုံဖြင့်လည်းကောင်း ပဏ္ဍုကာဘယက ဂုဏ်ပြုခဲ့သော ယက္ခတစ်ပါးဖြစ်ပြီး၊ ဘုရင်၏ အသက်ကို တစ်ချိန်ကကယ်ခဲ့သော နွားထိန်း စိတ္တ၏ ကာယဗျူဟာဖြစ်သည်ဟု မဟာဝံသတွင် ဆိုသော်လည်း၊ ယက္ခ စိတ္တရာဇ(၁) နှင့် တူညီနိုင်ဆုံးဖြစ်သည်။

A yakkha whom Paṇḍukābhaya honoured with a settlement below the Abhaya reservoir and a seat beside him on festival days, said in the Mahāvaṃsa to be an incarnation of the herdsman Citta who once saved the king’s life, though probably identical with the yakkha Cittarāja (1).
