  • A king of Kosala who, after his kingdom was seized by Brahmadatta of Kāsi, fled into hiding and, on being led to execution, gave his son Dīghāyu the enigmatic dying counsel “look neither too far nor too near,” which later restrained the son from avenging his parents’ death.
