父ディーギーティ王の死の教えに従い、機会が訪れたときブラフマダッタの命を助けたディーガーユの物語の続きである本生譚で、後にその忍耐から利益を得るという話であり、コーサンビーの争う比丘たちに関連して説かれた。

A birth story continuing the tale of Dīghāyu, son of King Dīghīti, who heeds his father’s dying advice and spares Brahmadatta’s life when given the chance, later benefiting from his forbearance, told in reference to the quarrelsome monks of Kosambī.
