여러 해 헌신적으로 봉사한 뒤 늙어서 모든 명예를 빼앗기고 옹기장이의 똥수레를 끌게 된 왕의 암코끼리에 관한 자타카로, 대신이 된 보살의 발치에 엎드려 말없이 호소하자 지위를 되찾았다는 이야기이며, 마찬가지로 방치되다가 부처님께 하소연한 우데나 왕 자신의 늙은 코끼리에 관해 설해졌다.

A Jātaka about a king’s she-elephant who, after years of devoted service, is stripped of her honours in old age and set to hauling a potter’s dung-cart, until she appeals wordlessly to the Bodhisatta as minister by falling at his feet and has her status restored, told about King Udena’s own aging elephant, similarly neglected until she complained to the Buddha.
