양모 마하파자파티 고타미가 짠 가사를 받으신 부처님이 더 큰 공덕을 위해 그것을 승단에 보시하도록 청하신 뒤, 여러 종류의 보시와 베푸는 이와 받는 이, 그들 사이의 청정함의 정도를 설명하시는 경이다.

A discourse in which the Buddha, receiving a robe woven by his foster-mother Mahāpajāpatī Gotamī, asks her to offer it to the Order instead for greater merit, then explains the various kinds of gifts, givers, and recipients and the degrees of purity among them.
