두 학우에 관한 자타카로, 한 명은 바라나시(Bārāṇasī)의 왕이 되고 다른 한 명은 조용히 홀로 깨달음을 얻어 세상에서 물러난다. 수십 년 후 깨달은 친구가 이제 건망증이 심해진 왕을 찾아가 출리를 가르친다. 붓다 자신의 출가와 관련하여 설해졌다.

A Jātaka about two student friends, one of whom becomes a king in Bārāṇasī while the other quietly attains solitary enlightenment and withdraws from the world; decades later the enlightened friend visits the now-forgetful king and teaches him renunciation, told in connection with the Buddha’s own renunciation.
