释迦族的一处市镇，佛陀游化时曾驻留说法，传统上被视为摩耶夫人（Mahāmāyā）与摩诃波阇波提·瞿昙弥（Mahāpajāpatī Gotamī）的出生地，佛陀诞生的蓝毗尼园（Lumbinī）便在附近。

A township of the Sākyā where the Buddha stayed and taught during his travels, traditionally regarded as the birthplace of Mahāmāyā and Mahāpajāpatī Gotamī, and near which lay the Lumbinī grove where the Buddha himself was born.
