부를 위해 백성을 억압하던 라자가하의 바라문 대신으로, 사리뿟따로부터 정의에 관해 훈계를 받았으며, 임종 시에는 사리뿟따의 인도로 범천계와의 합일을 향했으나, 부처님은 그가 그 하위 세계 중 한 곳에 다시 태어났다고 말씀하셨다

A brahmin minister of Rājagaha who oppressed the people for wealth until Sāriputta admonished him on righteousness, and who, on his deathbed, was guided by Sāriputta toward union with a Brahma-world, though the Buddha said he was reborn in one of its lower realms.
