히마와에서 붙잡혔다가 조련사에게서 도망친 코끼리가 항상 두려움 속에서 살았는데, 나무 정령이었던 보살이 그 두려움을 없애주었다는 이야기로, 늘 죽음을 두려워하는 한 비구에 비유되며 그 비구는 코끼리의 전생인 자타카.

A Jātaka about an elephant, captured in the Himavā and later escaping its trainers, who lives in constant terror until the Bodhisatta, as a tree-spirit, dispels its fear, told in reference to a monk perpetually afraid of death, identified with the elephant.
