本生故事，一頭大象在喜馬拉雅山被捕、後逃脫馴象師而躲入山中，終日驚懼，直到身為樹神的菩薩為它解除恐懼，用以譬喻一位常年懼死的比丘，此比丘即是大象的前身。

A Jātaka about an elephant, captured in the Himavā and later escaping its trainers, who lives in constant terror until the Bodhisatta, as a tree-spirit, dispels its fear, told in reference to a monk perpetually afraid of death, identified with the elephant.
