本生故事，菩萨是迦尸的婆罗门，出家为苦行者，与同伴到波罗奈乞盐调味时受民众供养，用以譬喻舍卫城两位青年募款供养佛陀与僧团一事。

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta, a brahmin of Kāsi turned ascetic, and his companions are given food by the people of Bārāṇasī, told in reference to two young men who organized a collection to feed the Buddha and his monks in Sāvatthi.
