ကမ္ဘာကိုးဆယ့်တစ်ခုကျော်က ဟံသာဝတီမြို့တွင် အိုးထိန်းသည်တစ်ဦးအဖြစ် ဗုဒ္ဓတစ်ပါးအား ကျွမ်းကျင်စွာ ပြုလုပ်ထားသော မြေအိုးဖလားကို လှူဒါန်းခဲ့ရာ၊ ထိုအကျိုးကြောင့် ထို့နောက်တွင် အစဉ်ရွှေနှင့် ငွေဖလားများဖြင့်သာ ဆွမ်းစားရသော ရဟန္တာတစ်ပါးဖြစ်ပြီး၊ နောင်ဆက်တွင် မဟာစုန္ဒထေရ်ဖြစ်လာသည်ဟု ယူဆကြသည်။

An arahant who, ninety-one world-cycles ago as a potter of Haṃsavatī, gave a well-made clay bowl to a Buddha and, as a result, always thereafter ate from bowls of gold and silver; he is thought to be the same person as the elder Mahācunda.
