バーラーナシーの王として生まれた菩薩は、侵攻してきた敵王に捕らえられ逆さ吊りにされたが、その窮地にあっても慈悲を修めることで自由と敵の敬意の両方を勝ち取った。

The Bodhisatta born as King of Bārāṇasī, who, captured and hung upside down by an invading rival king, won his freedom and his enemy’s respect by cultivating loving-kindness even in that extremity.
