仏陀の双神変を目撃した後に出家し、ガハヴァラティーラと呼ばれる場所に住みながら阿羅漢となり、そこからその名を得た、アッギダッタという名のサーヴァッティーのバラモン。

A brahmin of Sāvatthi named Aggidatta who entered the Order after witnessing the Buddha’s Twin Miracle and became an Arahant while living at a spot called Gahvaratīra, from which he took his name.
