三人の苦行者カッサパ兄弟の一人で、ガヤーシーサ（Gayāsīsa）で二百人の弟子を率いていた。兄ウルヴェーラ・カッサパ（Uruvela-Kassapa）の帰依の後、弟子たちとともに教団に入り阿羅漢となった。

One of the three ascetic Kassapa brothers, leader of two hundred followers at Gayāsīsa, who joined the Buddhist Order together with them after his elder brother Uruvela-Kassapa’s conversion and attained Arahantship.
