세 명의 고행자 깟사빠(Kassapa) 형제 중 한 명으로, 가야시사(Gayāsīsa)에서 이백 명의 제자를 이끌었다. 맏형 우루웰라 깟사빠(Uruvela-Kassapa)가 귀의한 후 제자들과 함께 교단에 들어가 아라한이 되었다.

One of the three ascetic Kassapa brothers, leader of two hundred followers at Gayāsīsa, who joined the Buddhist Order together with them after his elder brother Uruvela-Kassapa’s conversion and attained Arahantship.
