바라나시 왕으로 태어난 보살로, 왕궁 후궁에서 부정을 저지르다 발각된 대신을 추방하였다. 그 대신은 사왓티의 왕카 왕을 부추겨 침공하여 보살을 투옥시켰으나, 타는 듯한 병이 왕카를 괴롭혀 그를 풀어주고 왕위를 되돌려 주게 만들었다.

The Bodhisatta, born king of Bārāṇasī, who banished a minister caught misbehaving in the royal harem; the minister incited King Vaṅka of Sāvatthi to invade and imprison him, but a burning affliction forced Vaṅka to release him and restore his throne.
