වෙනත් තැනක කියන ලද කථාවක් යළි කියමින්, කේළාම් කරන්නන්ගේ බලපෑම නිසා සිරගත වූ, සිර ගෙදර සිටියදී පළමු ඵලයට පත් වූ, නිදහස් වූ පසු බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ මෙම කථාව ඔහුට කීවේ, කොසොල් රාජ්‍යයේ අමාත්‍යවරයෙකුට යොදන, කථාවේ එක් රජෙකු ලෙස ආනන්ද තෙරුන් හඳුනාගන්නා ජාතක කථාවකි.

A Jātaka retelling an earlier story, applied here to a minister of the Kosalan king who was imprisoned through slanderers’ influence, attained the first stage of awakening while in prison, and on release was told this tale by the Buddha, Ānanda being identified with a king in the story.
