本生故事，重述另一则条目中的故事，用以譬喻憍萨罗国王的一位大臣因谗言所害入狱，狱中证得初果，出狱后佛陀为他讲述此本生，阿难即是故事中一位国王的前身。

A Jātaka retelling an earlier story, applied here to a minister of the Kosalan king who was imprisoned through slanderers’ influence, attained the first stage of awakening while in prison, and on release was told this tale by the Buddha, Ānanda being identified with a king in the story.
