何か常住のものはあるかと問われた仏陀が、牛糞の塊を持ち上げて、個人存在の最も短い期間さえ不安定であることを示し、次いでマハー・スダッサナ王としての自らの過去の栄華が最終的に滅びた様を語る経典である。

A discourse in which the Buddha, asked whether anything is permanent, holds up a pellet of cow dung to show that even the smallest span of personal existence is unstable, then recounts how his own past splendor as King Mahā-Sudassana ultimately perished.
