무엇이든 영원한 것이 있느냐는 물음에 부처님이 소똥 덩어리를 들어 보이시며 개인 존재의 가장 짧은 기간조차 불안정함을 보이신 뒤, 마하수닷사나 왕으로서 자신의 과거 영화가 결국 소멸했음을 회고하시는 경이다.

A discourse in which the Buddha, asked whether anything is permanent, holds up a pellet of cow dung to show that even the smallest span of personal existence is unstable, then recounts how his own past splendor as King Mahā-Sudassana ultimately perished.
