Ñātika近郊の森林地帯で、仏陀がAnuruddha、Nandiya、Kimbilaを訪ねた際、後にサーリプッタ、マハーモッガラーナら高名な比丘たちを訪ねた際に、それぞれCūḷagosiṅga SuttaとMahāgosiṅga Suttaが説かれる契機となった。

A forest tract near Ñātika where the Buddha’s visits to Anuruddha, Nandiya and Kimbila, and later to Sāriputta, Mahā-Moggallāna and other eminent monks, occasioned the teaching of the Cūḷagosiṅga and Mahāgosiṅga Suttas.
