一则本生故事，讲一条误入渔笼的水蛇被鱼群咬得遍体鳞伤后逃出，问一只青蛙鱼群这样对待他是否应当，青蛙答道这不过是以其人之道还治其人之身，鱼群闻言便彻底解决了这条蛇，此事讲述阿阇世王在与波斯匿王交战中随战局胜负而或喜或忧的情绪波动。

A Jātaka about a wounded water snake, bitten by fish after straying into their trap, who asks a frog whether the fish were right to attack him, only to be told they were merely repaying in kind what he would do to them, provoking the fish to finish him off, told about King Ajātasattu’s shifting moods of elation and despair through his war with Pasenadi.
