アヌラーダプラの大塔の建設監督をドゥッタガーマニ王から任された長老。神殿の上に広大な銅製の日傘を造り、竣工式に参加を望む島民全員がその日のうちに往復できるようにするなど、大いなる神通力を持つとされる。

A thera entrusted by King Duṭṭhagāmaṇī with superintending the construction of the Mahā Thūpa at Anurādhapura, credited with great psychic powers including creating a vast copper parasol over the shrine and enabling every islander who wished to attend its dedication to do so and return home the same day.

アショーカ王の下で建てられた八万四千の僧院の建設監督に任じられた長老。神通力を用いて全ての落慶式を同じ日に行わせたが、後に自らの慢心を王が穏やかに戒めたことで謙虚になり、阿羅漢果を得た。

A thera appointed to superintend the construction of the eighty-four thousand monasteries built under King Asoka, who used his psychic power to have all their dedication festivals held on a single day, and who later attained Arahantship after being humbled by the king’s gentle rebuke of his pride.
