記述耆婆請問佛陀是否有專為其而宰殺的動物，佛陀說明除非有理由懷疑肉食是專為己而殺，否則可以食用，耆婆聞後皈依為佛陀弟子的一部經。

A discourse in which Jīvaka asks the Buddha whether animals are slain expressly for his use, and the Buddha explains that meat may be eaten unless there is reason to suspect the animal was killed for that purpose, after which Jīvaka declares himself a follower.

佛陀向耆婆解說：受持三皈五戒者方為在家居士，此人能利益自他的一部經。

A discourse in which the Buddha explains to Jīvaka that a lay follower is one who has taken the Three Refuges and Five Precepts, and that such a person benefits both himself and others.
