水を求めて廃井を深く掘る隊商が埋蔵財宝を発見するが、菩薩の警告を無視して貪欲から掘り続けたため、そこに住む龍王に皆殺しにされるジャータカ。同じ財宝を見つけて仏陀に正直に報告した阿羅漢たちと対比される。

A Jātaka about a caravan that digs a disused well deeper for water, finds buried treasure, and is slain by a resident Nāga king for greedily digging further despite the Bodhisatta’s warning, contrasted with Arahants who found the same treasure and reported it to the Buddha.
