물을 찾으려고 버려진 우물을 더 깊이 파던 대상들이 묻힌 보물을 발견하지만, 보살의 경고를 무시하고 탐욕으로 계속 파다가 그곳에 사는 용왕에게 모두 살해당하는 자타카로, 같은 보물을 발견하고 부처님께 정직하게 보고한 아라한들과 대비된다.

A Jātaka about a caravan that digs a disused well deeper for water, finds buried treasure, and is slain by a resident Nāga king for greedily digging further despite the Bodhisatta’s warning, contrasted with Arahants who found the same treasure and reported it to the Buddha.
