象を殺すため辟支仏の黄衣に化けた猟師が、その衣への敬意からボーディサッタ（Bodhisatta）である象の指導者に見逃されたという物語で、提婆達多（Devadatta）が上等な衣を纏う不相応な偽りを譬えて説かれたジャータカ。

A Jātaka about a hunter who slew elephants while disguised in a Pacceka Buddha’s yellow robe, spared by the Bodhisatta-elephant leader out of respect for the robe, told to illustrate Devadatta’s unworthy pretense in wearing a fine robe.
